King City residents moving forward after police chief was fired
Tuesday night at a special council meeting in King City, the community rallied together, this time behind city leaders.
One woman said to the council, “I don’t care what happened last week. I care about what’s going to happen next week. So I say we move on.”
The tone of the meeting changed when some people stood up and said they’d witnessed inappropriate behavior by former police Chief Ron Forgue. They were allegations that Forgue told NewsChannel5 are false.
It was a very different reaction from last week when Forgue got a standing ovation when he asked for his job back.
“I’m not a quitter. I’m telling these people right now I’m not a quitter,” Forgue said last week.
Mayor Rob Cullen called that night the most difficult meeting he has ever been through. City leaders were booed and taunted by residents demanding to know why Forgue was fired without cause.
Now one week later many residents were even apologizing for their behavior.
One man said, “I was disgusted by the circus that I saw last week.”
Another told the council, “We support you guys. And once again I apologize to all of you for last week.”
But the goal remains the same. King Citywants to move on and rebuild a struggling police department, putting all the hardships and scandals behind.
