Position: Weekend Anchor/MMJ
KION TV and Central Coast CW will have an opening at the end of November for weekend anchor in Monterey, California. This full-time position includes weekday role as MMJ on our CBS affiliate. KION TV /Central Coast CW is in a competitive, visible market on the beautiful Central Coast of California.
The ideal candidate can generate their own story ideas and has a strong track record of enterprise reporting and covering live, breaking news as an MMJ. The winning candidate can write clear, compelling and timely news copy not only for broadcast, but for the station’s website and social media networks. We’re looking for a team player who can edit video and meet all deadlines as assigned by a manager. Ability to work under tight deadlines on a flexible schedule that includes weekends and some evenings. This is not an entry level position. Experience anchoring and some public appearances required.
Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism or equivalent is required. Two to four years of television broadcasting experience is preferred. Candidate must pass a drug test and background check. A valid driver’s license is required.
KION TV is a state-of-the-art facility in Monterey, Salinas, and Santa Cruz. .
