Minor injuries reported in train, big rig collision near Salinas

One person suffered minor injuries after an Amtrak train and big rig collided at Highway 101 and Spence Road near Salinas Monday night, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Traffic Incident Information page.

The crash was reported just before 8 p.m. The big rig driver was not injured according to the CHP.

Traffic was backed-up on southbound Highway 101. At least one person reported damage to their vehicle due to debris, CHP said.

Union Pacific was called on scene.
