Salinas’ first roundabout opens during air show weekend
Salinas’ first roundabout is set to open during a busy weekend with thousands expected for the California International Airshow Salinas, according to the Salinas Public Works Department.
The intersection of Skyway Blvd. and East Alisal has been closed to traffic for several weeks during construction. Crews said the road has been paved and will be open to the public this weekend.
However, project managers said the roundabout is only 80 percent complete. They said temporary signs will be added to aid drivers as they navigate the area over the weekend.
“We’re working on some signs at this point in time to better advise motorists on which lanes they should be using to get to and from certain areas,” city engineer Robert Russell said.
The city will also plan to have some community service officers and construction workers on hand to help direct traffic.
