UPDATE: Man shot and killed in Salinas Wednesday night identified
UPDATE 9/23/15 11:22 p.m.: Salinas police identified the victim in a deadly shooting Wednesday night as Ramon Herrera.
Just after 6 p.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired near Market Way and Bridge Street. Upon arrival officers found a group of people providing aid to the 44-year-old victim.
Herrera suffered multiple gunshots to the upper torso, police said. He was pronounced dead on scene.
Police said one person came forward and provided officers with information. That witness reported three Hispanic men approached a white male on Market Way. During a verbal argument that man pulled out a gun and began firing multiple shots at Herrera.
The suspect was seen running westbound on Market Way.
