Aptos man killed Sunday night in car crash
A 36-year-old man is dead after a crash in the Aptos area.
It happened at about 9:42 p.m. on Sunday night when the man was driving a red Mazda coupe eastbound on Freedom Boulevard, east of Pleasant Valley.
For unknown reasons, the driver veered off the road and crashed into several mailboxes before ramming into a metal gate. It continued off the roadway and up a raised dirt hill before overturning.
The driver was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the car.
He was flown to San Jose Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
Alcohol and/or drugs are believed to have been a factor.
