Man shot and killed in Salinas marks city’s third homicide in 6-day span

Salinas police is investigating yet another deadly shooting. It’s the city’s 3rd homicide in 6 days.

Just before 11 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a report of shots fired on the 1200 block of 1st Avenue.

Upon arrival they found an orange extended cab pick-up parked but running. Inside the vehicle they found a 24-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the victim did not have any history with the police department. At this time detectives don’t know why he was targeted.

Police add, while several people heard the gunshots and a heard a vehicle speeding away, no witnesses have come forward that witnessed the shooting.

On Tuesday night, Carlos Robles 16, was found dead on the 1500 block of Duran Street.

Police said he was gunned down inside a car by a man on a bike. The driver, another teenager, was also shot but survived.

On Monday night, a 26-year-old man was shot and killed near the intersection of Garner Avenue and Pacific Avenue. His name has not been released.
