Central Coast firefighters help battle “Butte Fire”

As wildfires continue to rage in California, firefighters from the Central Coast are joining the fight.

Today a Strike Team from Santa Clara county arrived near Jackson in Amador County to help with the “Butte Fire.”

The Strike Team included firefighters form Morgan Hill, Gilroy, Santa Clara, Milpitas and San Jose.

Firefighters spent the day prepping and defending structures threatened by the fire.

The Butte fire has charred more than 65,000 acres in Amador and Calaveras Counties.

More than 100 homes, 79 outbuildings and 4 structures have been destroyed, according to Cal Fire.

The fire is 25 percent contained.
