Manhunt Monday: SPCA for Monterey County
The SPCA for Monterey County is working to find two people wanted for animal abuse:
Patricia Solis: Marina/Salinas/Greenfield resident was found living in Greenfield with 76 cats and seven dogs in filth and squalor. Some of the animals were confined to small travel crates and wire cages. Her daughter and five year old grandson were also living amongst all the filth and animals. All animals were seized.
There were numerous medical problems found with most of the animals due to their long-term neglect. Sadly, many of the animals had to be humanely euthanized due to the neglect they had suffered and lack of veterinary care.
Formal charges were filed by the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office and the defendant failed to appear for her scheduled arraignment on December 19, 2014. There is a $10,000 active warrant for five felony charges for animal neglect/abuse.
She has lived in Marina in the past and in Salinas as recently as February 2015. Her whereabouts are unknown at this time.
Miguel Garcia: Watsonville resident failed to provide adequate care for four horses. After numerous attempts by humane officers, the defendant failed to comply with instructions and abandoned the four horses without adequate food or water.
One horse was so severely injured and malnourished that she had to be euthanized upon arrival at the SPCA. The other three horses were treated by a veterinarian and after a long recovery were adopted into new homes.
The SPCA submitted criminal charges of animal neglect with the DA’s office February 25, 2013. The defendant failed to appear during the scheduled arraignment on felony animal cruelty charges and has an active felony arrest warrant.
The whereabouts of the defendant are unknown.
