Farm workers dealing with severe heat
The heat is tough for field workers who need to work outside, and with the heat, all types of crops are ready to harvest. For many agricultural business it’s easy to fall behind in terms of picking and harvesting, so employee preparation is key to stay on schedule.
“The preparation really, and what we try to do with our guys especially, is how important hydration is the night before. You know first thing in the morning, get a cup of water in you. If people are waiting to get hydrating once it’s hot it’s already too late at that point.” President of Paraiso Vineyards Jason Smith said.
Once temperatures reach 95 degrees the vineyard will shorten the hours of labor and provide more frequent breaks of water, shade, and rest. But it is very important that field workers do their part in preparing themselves for hot working conditions.
There seems to be no temperature that’s too hot, these workers will find a way to work around it.
