UPDATE: Evacuations lifted for Bear Canyon Road fire

UPDATE: 9/10/2015 7:05 a.m.: Evacuation notices have been lifted. The closure at Bear Creek Road is expected to open around 10:00 a.m. Thursday. The other closure at Sunset Ridge near the Byington Vineyard and Winery is open.

Fire crews are watching for hot spots Thursday morning and will continue to investigate the cause of the fire.

Evacuations are in place for a five acre fire on Bear Canyon Road in the Boulder Creek area.

According to Cal Fire and the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, this is a precautionary evacuation notice.

At least one structure has been destroyed.
