Central Coast residents look for ways to cool off during heat wave

Extreme heat along the Central Coast has residents desperately searching for ways to cool off. If you’re looking for air conditioning units or fans, you’re going to be out of luck because many places are sold out.

Ace Hardware in Soledad said they’re fresh out of standing fans. Since the Central Coast heat wave started, Ace said it got a shipment of fans last Friday and has already sold out. Apparently it’s not just people the fans are cooling down.

“Earlier there was a customer that wanted fans for his chickens because they were dying and he wanted some air there but we didn’t have any we ran out of fans and I guess nobody has them. In Salinas everywhere is out of fans,” Ace Hardware employee Yolanda Sandoval said.

Although fans and AC units are in high demand, some people have prepared themselves ahead of time.

“In the beginning of the summer I figure it’s gonna get hot…so I try to get whatever. Think I’m going to need,” King City resident Joe Allen said.
