Illegal weapon found after car chase in Greenfield
A man is behind bars after an early morning car chase in Greenfield Tuesday.
Monterey County Sheriffs say it happened just before 2:30 a.m.
When sheriffs perused Sergio Ortega in his car..after he didn’t stop initially near Arroyo Seco Road.
Sheriffs were able to stop him on the 200 block of El Camino real in Greenfield.
That’s when they discovered he was in possession of a loaded, illegal AR-15 style rifle with 95 rounds of ammunition and several high capacity rifle magazines.
A loaded 9 mm semi-automatic pistol with 66 rounds of ammunition was also found with several high capacity pistol magazines.
Ortega is now booked into the Monterey County Jail.
