News Production Assistant

KION News Channel 5 on California’s Central Coast has an immediate opening for a part-time News Production Assistant. This person must be motivated to learn and implement the latest technology, enjoy the fast-paced environment of the newsroom, perform well under deadline pressure and respond quickly to breaking news. The candidate must be able to work an early morning shift Monday-Friday.

Essential Job Duties:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following.

-Editing for newscasts
-Shooting video in the field
-Post content to website
-Create graphics using Adobe Photoshop / Deko

Required Skills / Education / Certification:

-1 year news experience preferred
-Proficient using non-linear editing systems
-Posses excellent organizational, communication and time management skills
-Spanish skills a plus

-Candidate must pass a drug test and background check. A valid driver’s license is required
