Woman dies in crash on River Road Wednesday night

A woman died Wednesday night following a two-car crash outside of Salinas.

Witnesses reported an erratic driver along River Road just after 5 p.m. The California Highway Patrol said that driver was a 21-year-old woman driving with her mother.

Officers said the 21-year-old drove into oncoming traffic hitting another car. The mother died and the daughter was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.

The driver in the second vehicle wasn’t hurt.

Officers don’t suspect drugs or alcohol were involved.
