CAL FIRE: Bullet sparks 49-acre fire near Laguna Seca Rifle & Pistol Range
UPDATE: 4:30 P.M. 8/30/15
One bullet caused a fire that burned 49 acres of land near the Laguna Seca Rifle & Pistol RangeSunday afternoon, CAL FIRE officials said.
The fire is contained. Investigators said someone fired a gun at the shooting range and the bullet struck a concrete culvert nearby, CAL FIRE said.
The shooter was following protocol and will not be fined, officials said. They added the shooting range does have rules for keeping the grass short but this is an example of how dry conditions make it easier for fires to spark.
No injuries were reported during the fire.
