Two field workers shot and one killed in Salinas Wednesday night

Two field workers were shot and one was killed on Pacific Ave. in Salinas Wednesday night, according to police.

Officers said the shooting happened around 9:45 p.m. in the 1100 block of Pacific Ave. Israel Guzman Ramirez, 26, was shot and later died at the hospital, according to police.

Officers said a second 22-year-old victim was shot and taken to the hospital. He is expected to survive.

Salinas Police said both victims are field workers and don’t have any known gang ties. While police say they don’t have much information on a suspect, the did say witnesses reported seeing a grey or silver four door sedan leave the area at a high rate of speed.
