Monterey to start using smart phones to issue parking tickets starting Saturday Aug. 1

The City of Monterey Parking Division will start using smart phones to issue parking tickets beginning Saturday August 1st.

Samsung smart phones with specialized software, “Ticket Pro Magic,” will allow the Parking Enforcement Office to issue parking citations. It also can be used for license plate recognition, to take photos, have live integration with the main server, and to send custom alerts.

The units are connected by Bluetooth to a printer that prints out the actual parking citation.

Monterey City Council authorized a three year contract with two optional one-year extensions with Turbo Data Systems, Inc. to provide parking citation processing services on June 2, 2015.

Turbo Data Systems has an office in San Jose that will service the Monterey area.
