UPDATE: Wanted man driving a food truck leads multiple agencies on a chase

UPDATE 7/16/15 1:55 p.m.: Seaside Police confirm the food truck suspect’s name is Ricardo Carranza, 27, of Salinas.

Officers with Seaside Police said the truck was spotted in a driveway on Encina Ave. in Monterey. Shortly after, officers said they saw Carranza trying to run away. Carranza was taken down by two Seaside officers in someone’s backyard near the scene.

UPDATE 7/16/15 1:25 p.m.: A man wanted for attempted murder, who led multiple law enforcement agencies on a chase Thursday morning is now in custody, according to the Salinas Police Department.

Officers said the driver of a food service truck was wanted on a $1 million dollar warrant for an alleged domestic violence incident where he is accused of trying to kill his significant other by running them over with a car.

The warrant for the driver’s arrest had been filed Thursday morning, just before the pursuit began.

Police first tried to pull the truck over around 10:50 a.m. in Salinas because it was stolen. The driver led officers on a chase, getting up to speeds of 90 miles per hour at some points, from Highway 101 to Highway 1, into the city of Marina, into Seaside and then finally ended in Monterey.

Investigators with the Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics Team were able to arrest the wanted man and a female passenger who tried to run after the truck was parked in a driveway at Encina Ave. near Del Monte Ave. in Monterey.

UPDATE 7/16/15 12:52 p.m.: A chase between a taco truck driver and local law enforcement ended just before noon at Encina Ave. and Highway 1 in Monterey.

Multiple law enforcement agencies worked to stop the driver has he led them on a pursuit from Salinas to the Monterey Peninsula lasting more than an hour.

The truck said “Cabanas #1 Catering, Salinas, CA on the side. Salinas Police said the truck was reported stolen Thursday morning.

The driver was arrested and officers believe a female passenger is on the run. Law enforcement from California Highway Patrol, Salinas Police and Monterey Police and the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office were all involved in the chase.
