UPDATE: Search for missing hiker continues in Big Sur after reported sighting

UPDATE 7/17/15: After calling of a search for a missing hiker in Big Sur Sunday night, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office said search and rescue crews are back out looking for the man on Friday.

Deputies said they are looking for Harold Drake, 76, in the area of Sykes Camp in the Ventana Wilderness.

The Sheriff’s Office said a credible tip was reported with information on a possible sighting.

UPDATE 7/13/15 9:08 a.m.: The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office said the search for missing hiker, Harold Drake, was called off Sunday night at 11:30 p.m.

PREVIOUS STORY: Monterey County deputies are continuing to search for a missing hiker in Big Sur.

Crews said are looking Harold Drake, 76, was first reported missing on Friday.

On Sunday, Santa Cruz deputies helped with the search.
