More arrests after gang investigations in Castroville

Four Castroville men were arrested Wednesday night during a crime sweep by the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office. This comes after an increase in criminal activity that occurred over the Fourth of July weekend.

The Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday night’s sweep included probation and parole searches at approximately 16 homes. They explained this was not a one-time effort and investigators plan to continue the operation because of the increase in criminal activity by criminal street gang members.

There were multiple charges for three of the four men, including a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, and a felon in possession of ammunition.

Paul Jaquez, 31, Angel Sandoval, 39, Noe Vargas, 34, and Humberto Vasquez, 27 were taken to Monterey County Jail.
