Salinas Rodeo holds special event for kids with disabilities
There was a big treat for some kids at the California Rodeo Salinas this week as they got to not only go to a carnival, but they got to do it with some of this year’s rodeo stars.
The carnival is a big part of the big week tradition at the Rodeo and this year some special needs kids got to experience it in a special way. They were hosted by the freestyle bullfighters and Miss California Rodeo Salinas.
The kids spent the morning with the rodeo stars and without any crowds. The bullfighters and Miss Rodeo said it’s just as much fun for them as for the kids.
“We sometimes take things for granted and when they come and they’re just so excited to get out and do something out in public and come to the carnival. It just makes their day. (That) makes our day that we can give back and make them smile. I mean their smile is everything, you know,” bull fighter Kyle Lippin said.
The carnival is open on weekdays from 4 to 10 p.m. and on weekends from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. It runs through Sunday, July 19. It costs $3 dollars and an unlimited ride wristband is $30.
