Man shot with children in the car, drives to Salinas Fire Dept. for help

Salinas Police said a man was shot at while he was in his car on the 1500 block of 1st Avenue Monday. Officers said his 10-month old son and 6-year-old daughter were inside the car during the time of the shooting.

Police said the man drove to the Salinas Fire Department on Williams Road and broke into the front door to get help for his children, police said.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. His son was also taken to a hospital after he suffered cuts from broken glass, police said.

Police said the suspect drove-off in a “candy apple red” Tahoe.
