Sheriff: Sexually violent predator will not live in Prunedale home

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday that serial rapist Eldridge Chaney will no longer be living in the home proposed in Prunedale earlier this week.

Liberty Healthcare, contracted by the state mental health department, has looked at more than 300 locations to house the 62-year-old convicted rapist and a home in Prunedale was the first option to fit all of the state requirements and agree to the deal.

However, the proposed location at 780 El Camino Real North near Reese Circle will no longer be a consideration after the property owners withdrew the residence offer.

The scheduled public hearing at the First Baptist Church on Pesante Road on July 14th has been cancelled.

NewChannel 5 learned the home was sold two months ago to non-residents as an investment property.
