Naked man goes on crazy drive through Santa Cruz Thursday morning

Santa Cruz Police said Richard Ducati, 51, went on a meth-fueled erratic driving spree through neighborhoods early Thursday morning.

The San Francisco man started on the west side when calls started pouring in about several parked cars being hit, one near the Safeway Shopping Center on Mission St.

More calls came in as Ducati apparently headed toward the east part of the city driving at high speeds through neighborhoods off Soquel Ave. Police say the car was eventually disabled in some sort of crash. Ducati managed to make his way in to the backyard of a home on Park Way near Acacia Way.

That is when officers were eventually able to subdue the naked man and take him in to custody.

Ducati is now in the ICU at Dominican Hospital with significant injuries after his accident, when is is medically cleared, he will be booked in the Santa Cruz County Jail on DUI and hit and run charges.

Police believe he was under the influence of meth.

There were no reports of other injuries.
