Santa Cruz Police nab alleged bank robber hiding nearby

A suspect robbed the Wells Fargo on River St. in Santa Cruz Wednesday afternoon, according to Santa Cruz County Communications.

The robbery was reported at about 12:30 p.m. and witnesses said the suspect may have had a weapon.

The bank alarm triggered police response to the scene, where witnesses gave information that led officers to a suspect hiding nearby, according to dispatchers.

Police have arrested the suspect who initially got away with an unknown amount of cash.

The store has a sign out front saying it is temporarily closed.
