Salinas deadly hit-and-run suspect now in custody

UPDATE 7/8/15: Salinas Police said suspect Anthony Bouchereau was taken into custody by police, after he was located at a local truck stop Wednesday night.

Police said Bouchereau was attempting to raise money to leave town. After questioning, Bouchereau was booked into the Monterey County Jail for vehicular manslaughter and hit and run.

PREVIOUS STORY: The Salinas Police Department is investigating a deadly hit-and-run that happened at the intersection of Madeira Avenue and Market Street just before 8:00 p.m. Sunday.

Officers said a Lincoln town car collided with a Toyota and the driver of the Lincoln left the scene on foot. Officers said they found the passenger of the town car, Yesenia Romero,24, at the scene.

Officers said she died in the hospital from severe injuries. The driver is described as a dark complected male with tattoos on his neck and Anthony Seven Bouchereau has been named as a person of interest, according to police.

Officers believe he had been recently dating Romero. Anyone with information is urged to call police.
