Carmel high-speed chase Sunday night, suspect arrested and in jail

A Seaside man allegedly led deputies on a high-speed chase Sunday night in Carmel Valley. Deputies said Ricky Bilbro, 25, was driving over 90 miles per hour during a chase that lasted about 25 miles on Carmel Valley Road.

The pursuit ended in East Carmel Valley when Bilbro lost control of his car and went off the road into a ravine. Deputies said Bilbro initially got away on foot and ran into the forest. But deputies were able to stop him.

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office was originally trying to pull Bilbro over for lighting malfunctions on his car. But they said Bilbro had prescription pills without a prescription and an outstanding felony arrest warrant.

He was taken to the Monterey County Jail.
