Update: Second shooting in Salinas Sunday

Update

Salinas Police are investigating two shootings, within blocks of each other.

Police say the first shooting happened just after 7 p.m. Sunday on Quilla Street near 2nd Avenue.

There were several reports of multiple shots fired. One person was hit and taken to the hospital.

Almost two hours later, police reported another shooting on Kentucky Avenue.

Police say it happened on the under 100 block of Kentucky Street, when a man was shot at several times while riding his bicycle.

The victim was struck once on the leg and transported to the hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

Police describe the suspect vehicle in both incidents as a grey Nissan Altima.

Both shootings are suspected to be gang related.

We have unconfirmed reports that a grey Nissan Altima has been involved with both shootings. Victims have been reported, but we have not been able to confirm that either with Police at this time.

Police are at the scene of a shooting on Quilla and 2nd Avenue in Salinas Sunday night.

Information is still coming in, but we can confirm shots were fired on Quilla Street in the direction of 2nd Avenue just after 7 p.m. Sunday night. Beyond that, police are not sharing anymore information.

Five police cruisers responded to the scene and about 6 officers are investigating.
