Deadly car accident in Prunedale Sunday night

California Highway Patrol is investigating whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in a fatal car crash that happened Sunday night on State Route 156 in Prunedale.

Authorities said the driver was traveling at an unknown speed, lost control and hit a tree.

Officers said the 21-year-old man was killed and he was driving a 2004 Volkswagen.
