UPDATE: Unoccupied apartment catches fire in Monterey Thursday morning

UPDATE 6/25/15 3:59 p.m.: Monterey Fire said one person is displaced after a fire at an apartment at Montecito and Ramona Ave. Thursday morning.

Crews said a man was standing on his balcony when he noticed the fire and was able to get himself down.

PREVIOUS STORY: A two bedroom apartment caught on fire near the corner of Montecito and Ramona Ave. Thursday morning.

Monterey Fire said two bedrooms inside a second floor apartment were fully involved but the fire was quickly knocked down.

Firefighters said no one was hurt because the apartment was unoccupied.

Fire crews are still working to secure the apartment and sections of the street are closed.
