Salinas officers nab alleged armed robber caught trying to escape

An armed man was arrested in Salinas after allegedly robbing a Salinas Quik Stop Wednesday morning.

Police said Paul Becker, 26, was armed with a handgun and it was initially reported he got away with cash.

Officers who responded to the call said they found Becker, who matched the suspect description, near the 100 block of Clark Street.

Before Becker was arrested, police said he ran and jumped several fences eventually he was found in the yard of a nearby business. Police said he had multiple cuts after scraping himself on razor wires attached to a business fence. He was treated and released from the hospital.

The stolen money was recovered but the handgun and clothing were not located, police said.

Becker was booked into the Monterey County Jail for armed robbery.
