Black bear captured in Monterey, police said
A 250-pound black bear was seen roaming around Monterey Sunday morning, according to the Monterey Police Department.
At 5:30 a.m., police officers responded to reports of a bear seen on the 600 block of Lobos Street, police said.
A team with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife was called on scene. Residents seen outside were told to stay indoors.
At 7:30 a.m., officials were able to tranquilize the bear at a house on the 600 block of Devisadero Street, police said.
No injuries were reported.
