Suspect in brutal confrontation has lengthy criminal record
Jose Velasco, the man accused of attacking his mother and trying to throw her into traffic was supposed to be in court on Tuesday, but his hearing has been rescheduled.
While at the courthouse, we did a simple court record search of Jose A. Velasco, born in 1987. It revealed a long list of run in’s with the law, dating back to 2007 at the earliest.
2007 — ‘No Contest’ plea for a car theft in Gonzales.
2008 — Drug possession with intent to sell
2010 — Car theft and resisting arrest
2011 — ‘No Contest” plea for burglary
2013 — Guilty plea to assault on a peace officer; ‘No Contest’ plea to two counts of drug possession
2014 — ‘No Contest’ plea to being a felon in possession of a firearm and participating in gang activity
One year later, the 28-year-old is being held on more felonies stemming from Friday’s incident. The DA’s office is still reviewing the case. Velasco will be in court on Wednesday for a parole violation.
