Salinas City superintendent candidate causes uproar
It was a packed house with angry parents at the Salinas City Elementary School District meeting. The district held the meeting Monday night to discuss a possible candidate to fill their superintendent position. The district talked about hiring superintendent Jon Ramirez from Alisal Union School District.
But many parents don’t like the idea, and brought signs saying, “character matters, stop the corruption, stop the politics.”
“We only want the best for our kids. And that’s all children in the district. We want the best superintendent that money can buy,” parent and school board candidate Frank Garden said.
Garden said the district pays well over $68,000 dollars to contract a superintendent. After a closed session the board announced they’ll negotiate with another candidate, not Ramirez.
