Seaside Police Department to have zero-tolerance firework policy

With the Fourth of July holiday coming up, the Seaside Police Department said it has established a zero tolerance policy for the use and possession of illegal fireworks, and will be strictly enforcing all fireworks laws.

City officials are reminding residents they are only allowed to use fireworks certified as “Safe and Sane” by the State Fire Marshal’s Office. Any fireworks without that label are illegal and listed as “dangerous.”

Anybody in possession of “dangerous” fireworks could face up to $50,000 in fines, as well as up to a year in jail.
