Morgan Hill vehicle stop leads to narcotics and weapons

A routine vehicle stop in Morgan Hill last week ended up with a man arrested for multiple crimes, including the possession of an illegal knife.

Police said Luis Abonce, 34, of San Martin, was acting strangely and was under the influence of illegal narcotics. After arresting him and searching his car, police found drugs, ammunition, and a gun.

Abonce, a convicted felon, was not legally allowed to own a firearm, police said.

He is charged with driving under the influence, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, being under the influence of a controlled substance, and possession of an illegal knife.
