Gilroy Fire says some time after noon Tuesday a car with three people inside was driving on Leavsley Road near Arroyo Circle when it ran off the road, hit a power pole and flipped on to the roof of the car, landing in a nearby field.
The power pole was sheered off and that caused an outage to parts of the Gilroy Outlets as well as the Costco nearby.
Officials say a man and woman stayed at the scene, but the third person took off. Gilroy Police were able to catch him a ways away.
Of the two who stayed behind, one person suffered major injuries when they were ejected from the car, and the other had moderate injuries. They were both taken to the hospital.
Power was gradually restored in the afternoon to the outlets and Costco.
