Armed robber wanted by Salinas police

An armed robber is wanted after an incident on North Main St. in Salinas last month, police said.

Police said the man seen in the surveillance picture above, approached a victim sitting in his car at 1017 N. Main St. on April 28 and demanded his cellphone. The victim reported the man threatened to kill him if he didn’t hand his cellphone over.

Police said the victim handed his cellphone over to the man and didn’t report the incident to authorities. The victim told police he saw the man enter a nearby store about a week later and he then reported the incident from the week before.

The Salinas Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the man. Officers said he is described as Hispanic, about 25 years old, 5 foot 10, about 170 pounds, bald with brown eyes and a light mustache.

They said he also is reported to have a teardrop tattoo under his right eye and a scar under his left eye. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
