Hollister police arrest Gilroy gang member after brief chase

A man on a bicycle was arrested in Hollister after leading officers on a brief chase Friday afternoon.

Hollister police said Santiago Medina Jr., 30, tried to escape and violently resisted arrest after officers saw him veering in and out of traffic near Valley View Road and Sunnyslope Road.

Police said Medina had a concealed fixed-blade knife in his pocket. He was charged with resisting and delaying arrest and for possession of a concealed knife.

Officers said Medina was identified as a gang member out of the Gilroy area. He was booked into the San Benito County Jail.
