UPDATE: “Nunny” returns home

A “good news” update over the weekend about a story New Channel 5 has been following for weeks now, the search for a missing monkey.

A young Prunedale girl who is battling cancer has been reunited with Nunny, her stuff monkey.

Nunny disappeared last month and even Watsonville Police had issued a “Be On the Lookout” for the missing monkey.

Three year old Effy Watson and Nunny have been inseparable since she was only months old, as the monkey plays a critical role in her cancer treatments.

While Effy’s parents scrambled to find the stuffed monkey, they asked people on their Facebook page and through News Channel 5 to send Effy postcards from the monkey who she believed was traveling the world with his family.

Sunday, with the help from the community, Effy is welcoming Nunny back from the jungle.

“This is Nunny 2.0…because he looks a little bit different and he looks much cleaner,” said Jennifer Watson.

“Huh why is he clean? Because he did a couple of stuff,” Effy added.

Effy’s parents say he showed up on their doorstep Saturday and was very clean. They say he had gone to the salon for a haircut and also got a “monkey manicure.”

They say Effy returns to Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford for her next big round of monthly chemo treatments. Apparently, we are told Nunny said he wouldn’t miss that for the world.
