Man arrested after heroin trafficking operation busted in Santa Cruz Co.

A suspected heroin trafficker is behind bars after a drug bust in Santa Cruz County.

The Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team Narcotics Taskforce worked with several other agencies to arrest 32-year-old Esteban Ruiz.

Detectives got a search warrant for his home and vehicles. They found 256 grams of heroin with a street value of $12,000 to $14,000 along with 23 grams of methamphetamine packaged for sales in the home.

Detectives also found packaging and a pay owe ledger the suspect labeled as “Get My Money.”

According to the task force, the arrest comes after several months of investigating the trafficking operation.

SCCACT NTF learned about Esteban Ruiz during an arrest in May 2014 when he was caught with a firearm. Ruiz was also arrested less than a week ago by Santa Cruz Police while driving a stolen vehicle.
