Central Coast chef wins ACF Western Region Chef of the Year
A Pebble Beach chef made it to the finals of a big competition after beating the best chefs in the Western Region of the United States.
Jeremy D. Tummel is the Chef de Cuisine for Stillwater Restaurant at the Lodge in Pebble Beach. Tummel recently took on two of the best chefs in the west in the 2015 American Culinary Federation (ACF) Western Region Culinary Salon and Tummel won! He was named ACF Western Region Chef of the Year.
“It’s exciting. It’s still a little surreal to me because it is like I’m riding this wave of new activity I wasn’t exposed to before. People have been coming out of the wood works through LinkedIn and stuff congratulating me and it has been really fun,” said Tummel.
Tummel’s winning dish was rabbit five ways. Tummel told News Channel 5 he believes the judges appreciated the fact that he was able to utilize every part of the animal in his dish.
Tummel will compete against three other chefs who won the remaining regions in the finals this summer in Orlando, Florida.
Tummel will also be kicking off the festivities at the Pebble Beach Food and Wine Festival for opening ceremonies Thursday night.
