Seaside combats underage drinking with undercover program
The Seaside Police Department is asking the community to help reduce underage drinking. Officers and agents with the California Alcoholic Beverage Control are running a minor decoy operation in the city, which began last July.
Investigators said the operation involves minors who work under direct supervision of police officers as they attempt to buy alcohol from licensed businesses.
Businesses caught selling to minors face fines leading to revocation of the license depending on the number of violations.
Officers said they are also running the Decoy Shoulder Tap Operation to catch adults buying alcohol for underage drinkers.
