San Benito Sheriff latest on the list to join Zero motorcyle trend

The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office bought two motorcycles for the Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team.

The project was funded by a grant from the Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District; it’s all part of a bigger effort to reduce motor vehicle emissions and enhance air quality.

Many police departments like Marina and Scotts Valley are using the Zero Motorcycles for patrol but San Benito County is the first sheriff’s office locally and one of the first law enforcement agencies in the country to purchase the off-road version.

The electric motorcycle company designs and builds everything in California.

“We are very pleased to bring these cost-free resources to our community. The electric motorcycles can efficiently and quietly cover the diverse terrain of our rural county and will be a great asset to our volunteer Search and Rescue program,” said Captain Tony Lamonica.
