Drug agents arrest Watsonville man for allegedly running drug house

Drug agents said a Watsonville man is facing several drug charges after he was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a two-month drug dealing investigation.

The Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team said Jesus Melgoza, 34, was arrested during a search at a home in the 300 block of E. Lake Avenue.

Investigators said they found evidence of heroin, opiate pills and marijuana for sale. They said their search began after information that there was a high amount of walk-up traffic at the home.

During the multi-agency search, officers said nearby E.A. Hall School was placed on lockdown as a safety precaution lasting about 20 minutes.

Investigators said they also found counterfeit U.S. currency at the home. Melgoza was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail.
