Bicylist killed in crash on East Market

Salinas police said a bicyclist was killed in a crash Thursday afternoon on East Market after colliding with a truck near the Shell Station.

Officers said Anthony Martinez, driving a service truck for Lamar Brothers, pulled slightly ahead of the bicyclist before turning directly in front of him.

Crews who responded to the scene said the bicyclist was hit by the side of the truck and was also ran over by the rear tires of the truck.

Officers said the victim had severe injuries and was taken to Natividad Medical Center where he died.
