Hollister Police finally get attempted murder suspect, chasing for nearly a year
Hollister Police say they have finally caught an attempted murder suspect they have been chasing for nearly a year.
Saturday officers and the San Benito Sheriff’s Office deupties were conducting a welfare check at the Valley View Apartments and found wanted suspect Larry Quiroz. An officer saw Quiroz through the window and Quiroz then tried to escape out the back of the apartment but deputies cut him off and eventually was found hiding in the apartment.
Quiroz is one of three suspects involved in an Easter Sunday shooting in 2014 in the 800 block of Washington Street. One victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds but did survive.
Hollister Police investigators identified 22-year-old Larry Quiroz as one of three suspects responsible for the shooting.
On Saturday, Quiroz resisted arrest and during a brief struggle, was bit by the Sheriff’s Office K9. He was medically cleared before being taken to jail.
Officers found a loaded handgun, drugs and drug paraphernalia, and stolen property.
Quiroz was also the suspect that ran from officers in Gilroy area earlier this month that led to a brief shutdown of Highway 101.
