Deputies arrest driver after chase in Royal Oaks

Two people were arrested after a driver led Monterey County deputies on a chase early Friday morning, deputies said.

Deputies said the chase happened as they were trying to make a traffic stop on Live Oak Road in Royal Oaks.

Deputies said Omar Rios, 19, of Watsonville fled and repeatedly drove into oncoming traffic and before eventually came to a stop on a rural dirt road.

That’s where deputies reported seeing four male subjects run on foot.

Deputies said Rios and Alexis Ortiz were located and arrested. Rios-Gonzalez is accused of driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
