La Selva Beach Trestle opens, a key link to local rail line
The Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission said its La Selva Beach Trestle project is complete after a bridge rehabilitation project passed by voters.
The county said it’s a key link in the 32-mile Santa Cruz Branch Rail Line.
About $5 million dollars worth of work was revealed on Thursday during a completion ceremony.
The county said completion of the project will re-open the line as an active rail corridor.
They said it will be used for freight and excursion passenger rail for now and may extend to a commuter rail down the line.
